A self-described “iconoclast”, Dr. Tricia Callender, Ph.D is the President and CEO of Spanner Strategies, LLC., a campaign strategy firm that helps politicians, non-profits and businesses reach new audiences and win campaigns. She has 10+ years of experience leading large scale campaigns and research projects in 10 countries in the United States, Asia, Africa, Latin America,the Middle East and the former Soviet Union for organizations including the United Nations, the Ford Foundation, NGOs worldwide and political advocacy organizations and candidates in the United States.
Tricia led the largest and most successful online consultation in United Nations history with over 6,000 participants in 100+ countries. As a sociologist, her areas of expertise are persuasive communications and research-driven messaging. She’s made a career out of examining how and why people communicate the way that they do, the choices they make, and how to tap into that thinking to advance campaigns and causes.
She lived and worked in South Africa for 5 years giving her a global context for creating effective campaigns in challenging situations.
Tricia is a regular political contributor to the Huffington Post and is a published author in various other magazines and academic journals. She also serves as the Chairwoman of Policy and Legislation for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Manhattan Chapter. She earned a Ph.D at Columbia University in Sociology.
